Leonora Carrington

In my haste to start my temp job, I neglected to note that the Surrealist Leonora Carrington passed away, this last May 25, at 94 years of age. To me, Carrington's work seemed to offer color and a level of detail which might easily appeal to today's graphic artists.  She was particularly celebrated in Mexico.   A woman devoted to her passions, she was once the lover of artist Max Ernst (husband to Dorothea Tanning), but unfortunately that relationship ended rather tragically.  The romance did however bring her into the circle of the great Surrealist artists, and for that we can all be appreciative.

An article on Carrington, by one of her family members, can be found here.

  1. Thanks for that update, Mikey. I remember reading about that love affair in a previous blog. Such a complicated life that most artists live! Really did enjoy the article written by her family member!
