Here's a new artwork! I wanted to create something in the spirit of a Paul Klee painting, and something to just have fun with. Klee painted pictures which were simple in their representational aspect, but which gave the eye plenty to look at in terms of texture and color.
Acrylic, wax pastel, and pigmented india ink on Masonite, 6" x 6".
Hi, Mikey! :) Very interesting! I'm going back to look some more in the larger size. Looks like it was fun to paint. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to paint, I am glad to say. Abstract art is difficult, so staying loose is key.
ReplyDeleteHow do you like the new pastels? Now that you mention it, seems like it would be difficult but fun using all the different colors and deciding where to put them. :)
ReplyDeleteJust going to watch "The Karate Kid, Part 11". :)
ReplyDeleteThe pastels only seem to work well when drawing dark over light, or vice versa. I think they're great for adding accents to a picture, but I don't see myself using the pastels heavily in any one picture! The pigmented inks are pretty cool, it's so easy to blend colors and to create subtle glazing effects with them.
ReplyDeleteIn the end though, I think acrylic paints are able to duplicate a lot of the effects of the pastels and inks just on their own. Acrylics are so versatile and powerful, there's almost no need to use other mediums! In my opinion. But it's fun to experiment anyway. :)
I wish you could make a video of yourself showing us how you use each different "medium" to do your paintings!! :)
ReplyDeleteHave to get ready for T.J.'s show that is tonight! :) Check out Beach Babes on Tommy and Gracie.:) Happy Painting! :)
