I have an exciting new assortment of Caran D'Ache wax pastels.  :) They are water-resistant, and can be drawn with over dried acrylic paint.  The only problem is that I'm afraid to use them!    :-|  They are new to me...

  1. Really bright colors, Mikey! :) I wouldn't want to mess them up either! Will this be the first time you have ever used wax pastels? :)

  2. Yes, the first time. :) The pastels make me think of one of my favorite artists, Paul Klee. He was known for using various media to create a painting. I would like to be so flexible too!

  3. Sounds like a good idea to me, Mikey! :) Reminds me of when I bought Michelle some new crayons and they were so "pretty" that I wanted to color too! :)

  4. I think everyone should create art as adults. Kids do, why not grown ups as well? I wonder when was the last time Michelle colored with crayons. :)

Yesterday at work, a woman brought in a piece of artwork that was created by a first grader. I was impressed! The design and amount of work that the drawing took, looked beyond something that a grade schooler would have patience for!

I like the way the pastels smell. :) These pastels essentially are crayons!

  5. I just may have to go get me some pastels or crayons, I love those big boxes with all those different colors that you can't find in a small box! :) My neighbors kids draw and color all the time! :)

  6. Go for it! I would be happy if you did that. Get some good quality paper and just draw whatever you feel like!

There are like 50 different colors with this brand of pastel, but I limited myself to only 14. :-| They were kind of expensive. Caran D'Ache makes water-soluble pastels too, for a different type of working characteristic.

  7. What kind of paper should I get? :) Do you buy your supplies from Michael's? :)

  8. I buy usually more locally (Phoenix Art Supplies) or I get more unusual things from online!

I like Strathmore brand papers, but I'd have to find out what paper is best for crayons! The typical papers made for artist's pastels are quite rough (too rough for me, I think)!

  9. Thanks for the "info", Mikey! :) Will you be back to painting tomorrow? I think I will watch a few more "Tommy" videos and then go to bed! :) Goodnight to you and Bruce! :)

  10. I should go to bed soon too! But say "Hi" to Gracie and tommy for me. :)

Yes, I'll paint tomorrow. I'll use the pastels, too. I put some base layers of acrylic paint onto five small canvases, so they should be dry and ready to draw on, by tomorrow!
